The LUCEO is Philips the newest member of its successful collection of design home phones. With its sleek and modern design traits matched with progressive features and large secondary display, it heralds a new era for home phones and is destined to be an iconic objet d’art in any home.
The briefing was to conceptualize and develop an extension of the tremendously successful Philips design-line of cordless phones. That meant in particular to differentiate from conventional cordless phones and competitors in the segment by creating a unique and outstanding appearance. Also the design had to adhere to high standards of usability and ergonomics as well as meet a specific target cost. As a unique feature in the category the design should incorporate a large display which would enable the user to read caller ID and other useful information from a distance.
As a testament to its geometrically astute design, the phone is optimally formed for effortless docking and charging. The handset can be charged whichever way it is placed on the docking station, ensuring that it is always available for up to 16 hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time.
